I’d like to sing a little song about race mixing. It’s called “Don’t You Do It”.

I almost hit publish, but then I remembered that this is tumblr and you might think I was being a terrible person and not someone making a Community reference.

I’m in an interracial relationship currently, so I’d have to say I feel pretty good about them. My current boyfriend is Korean and my two relationships before him were with a half-white/half-Iranian guy and an Irish/Korean guy. And I’ve casually dated a bunch of random dudes that came in many different colors.

I’ve gotten looks, I guess. My birthday checks from my grandma have gotten a little smaller. I’ve gotten some semi-ignorant comments from people along the lines of “Oh wow when you said you had a boyfriend I definitely pictured a white guy!” and “I would have never thought you were dating an arab guy!” and lots of super funny small dick jokes about all the Asian guys I date. And I’ve gotten some like “good for you for being so accepting and diverse!” type bullshit. 

I’ve read about a lot worse things that people have had to deal with in mixed race relationships, so I guess I should count myself lucky that is all I’ve had to put up with.
